Hiking adventures
The hiking offer in our Children's Hotel Grafenstein is varied and ideal for great family holidays in Merano & environs. Buggy-proof walking and hiking paths and exciting nature trails, challenging climbing routes and panoramic alpine tours. Our weekly programme includes a lot of nature and outdoor fun: The kids are well looked after during their discovery tour through forests and meadows, while the beautiful landscape is at the centre of attention during the weekly guided family hike.
On your bike and away you go
Cycling and biking in Merano & environs is great fun. From the Adige Valley to high-alpine terrain you can enjoy vast and perfectly sign-posted cycling routes. We highly recommend a cycling tour with the Venosta train for the whole family. The train brings you from Marlengo to Malles where you can cycle back on the easy cycling path along the Adige River. The bicycles can be rented from and returned to six different train stations along the route.
The best of golf holidays
Family holidays and golfing... here, an ideal combination. The nearby 9-hole-golf course in Lana guarantees for a great game! Enjoy golfing amidst vineyards and apple trees with an unobstructed view of Merano & environs from the middle of February to December! Just as beautiful and challenging is the 19-hole golf course of the Passiria Golf Club, which can be reached within only a 35 minute drive from the Family Hotel Grafenstein.
Water adventure
Entertaining tour on a rubber dinghy or canoe and exciting rafting and canoeing tours. The Adige and Passiria Rivers provide a paradise for all water sport fans. The quiet sections of both rivers are ideal for white-water tours with children. We would be pleased to help you plan such a sporty family excursions.
Climbing is fun
From tree to tree in high altitudes. A visit to a high-rope climbing garden is a challenge, adrenaline kick and great fun. Mounted to the tree trunks you'll find suspension bridges, rope loops and other obstacles, which are for various levels of difficulty. The nearby high-rope climbing gardens of Senales, Parcines or Terlano are ideal for an excursion with children.
Summer sledging
The AlpinBob in the recreational area Merano 2000 promises a speedy adventure for the whole family. With the cable cars you get up to 1900 metres of altitude from where you can return with the summer bob. This is great fun, a course with 930 metres of length and a difference in altitude of 123 metres.
Horse riding
What could be more beautiful than discovering the natural landscape of Merano and surroundings on horse-back? South Tyrol is the land of Haflinger horses and offers a varied programme for families: pony riding, riding excursions or riding lessons in one of the many horse riding stables.
The dream of flying
Being close to the sky, feeling completely free, enjoying Merano & environs from a bird's eye view. This is an unforgettable adventure and a lasting memory. Give it a try and enjoy the altitudes with a hang-glider or paraglider. The best start positions are the steep mountain wall of Mutspitze Peak, in the Hirzer area or at the nearby Vigiljoch.
