Dolce vita amongst arcades and piazzas

Mediterranean charm, historic streets and South Tyrolean delights – a day in Bolzano combines Italian joie de vivre with Alpine character.

A short trip of around 25 minutes takes you from Cermes to the lively provincial capital of Bolzano – with its charming narrow streets, Italian flair and plenty of spots to relax and enjoy yourself.

Strolling through the arcades of Bolzano

A great way to start the day is with a stroll through the historic arcades. Beneath the medieval arches, you’ll find small boutiques, delicatessens and cosy cafés – the perfect place to settle in and take a breather.

Market atmosphere at the fruit market

The colourful fruit market is filled with the scent of fresh fruit, flowers and local specialities. Just around the corner, the Fischerbänke, with their small bars and cafés, invite you to linger – a lively meeting place right in the heart of the city.

In the footsteps of Ötzi

At the famous South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology, you can meet what is probably South Tyrol’s most famous resident: Ötzi, the glacier mummy dating back over 5,000 years. Fascinating exhibitions tell the story of the Iceman and offer fascinating insights into Stone Age life in the Alps.

Lunch break in Bolzano

For a delightful break, there are several true Bolzano classics to choose from: modern cuisine at Restaurant 37, South Tyrolean specialities at the traditional Restaurant Vögele, or creative dishes at the stylish Restaurant Nussbaumer. The laid-back Restaurant Bogen is also a popular meeting place.

Aperitif under the palm trees

An aperitif is simply a must in the afternoon. The Exil and Das Gegenüber bars are particularly popular – perfect for a spritz or a glass of wine in the warm South Tyrolean evening sun.

Dolve vita at Waltherplatz

The best way to round off the day is on the lively Waltherplatz. Surrounded by cafés and palm trees, and with a view of the cathedral, this is where you can really get a feel for the city’s Italian way of life.
