In just 12 minutes, you can take the cable car from Bolzano up to the Renon plateau. There is no fixed timetable and no rush: every few minutes, a gondola opens and glides away. Walking to the earth pyramids
The quietest part of the excursion begins at the Klobenstein terminus. Trail no. 24 leads leisurely to the viewing terraces, where the Ritten earth pyramids suddenly appear before you – bizarre, impressive and almost a little fairy-tale-like. Behind them, the Dolomites open up like a natural backdrop to marvel at.
Stop at Maria Saal
Before heading back, it's worth taking a short break at the Maria Saal inn. After a short walk, you can enjoy classic South Tyrolean dishes, a sunny terrace and a view that is almost as impressive as the earth pyramids themselves.
